“HORIZONTE GUANAHANÍ” App project for the permanent exhibition of the Casa-Museo Colón.
The app was conceived as a “blended technology” experience combining digital tasks to be solved on the tablet with analogue tasks to be solved in the museum courtyard, using tools provided in a backpack.
It set out a gamified experience built around nine badges to be earned by completing challenges linked to nine chapters of the exhibition: The Crew, Ships and Navigators, Royal Capitulations, Setting Course, Maps and Charts, Navigation Instruments, The Speed of the Crossing, Indigenous Peoples, and Provisioning. The badges guide visitors through the permanent display. The tablet includes micro-videos, audiovisual texts, drawings and interactive games that let users answer prompts and collect badges. Full navigation, including time spent, is recorded anonymously to feed into the evaluation.
Project developed in collaboration with the companies Mitca and Interpretart.
