Between 2015 and 2017, the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), through the FUAM foundation and in collaboration with the Cueva Pintada Museum and Archaeological Park, ran an initiative known as i-Lab Cueva Pintada — an Interactive History Learning Lab that uses mobile-learning technologies (iPads) and interactive tools (clickers) to help secondary-school students engage with heritage in a more hands-on yet also more in-depth way.
The i-Lab consists of a new working space, designed around the users’ interests and built to feel friendly and motivating. In this space, students prepare and shape their visit to the archaeological park. Activities are run on tablets that support the visit to the site, working on digital skills and including pre- and post-visit evaluation.
