Ross Loomis
Professor
Colorado State University
Professor in the Department of Psychology at Colorado State University, currently Emeritus, he has devoted his career to museum visitor studies. He has worked across most areas linked to visitor research, with a critical eye on methodology and a sustained body of teaching, research and applied work. Perhaps because living in Fort Collins, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, leaves its mark, he has carried out many studies in the U.S. National Parks. The proximity also allowed him to work with two great Denver institutions, the Denver Art Museum being one of the art museums with the most distinctive identity and the strongest visitor focus. His work has been recognised with, for example, Fellow status, Division 34 of the American Psychological Association; the CNS Undergraduate Education Award (1998–1999); and the Oliver Pennock Award (2003).
